The Three Graces

According to Greek Mythology they are
Goddesses of beauty, nature, creativity.
Among the entries found in the
Merriam-Webster dictionary for grace:

A sense of what is right and proper
Divine influence
A special virtue given by the goddess/god
A short prayer or Thanks usually given at meals

So why am I writing about Grace?
As we continue into the New Year,
I choose to do so with Thankfulness.

I am Thankful to have My Lady in my life.
I am Thankful for family & friends
I am Thankful for the ability to care for My Dad
I am Thankful for those who came before me
& guided my path;
Some Ancestors, some I will never meet,
but they have made the path a little easier
to navigate.

These 3 Women have made traveling
that path a little easier.

"Z" Zsuzsanna Budapest

I am NOT a Dianic Witch.
I am NOT Wiccan
I don't even consider myself a feminist
I AM a Witch & a Psychic
In the early 70's Z Budapest was arrested and went to
trial for "fortune telling".
It was her fight which makes it possible for myself &
others to earn a living using our "gifts". It was her fight
which opened the doors for many pagan religions, opening
the path recognizing Wicca as a religion in this country.

May I have the Grace to stand up for My Beliefs

Laurie Cabot

I approach this choice with mixed emotions.
Ms. Cabot incites much controversy. I disagree with
many of her public statements and beliefs in regard to
the craft. She walks a fine line between raising
consciousness about the Craft and setting us back
a dozen or so years.
In the end I find, I owe Ms. Cabot gratitude.
Gratitude for coming out so publicly in a time when it
was far from acceptable to do so.
Gratitude for opening the first public Witchcraft shop
in Salem and possibly in the US

May I have the Grace to Be Myself

Misty-Eve

Misty-Eve writes the newsletter
A Word to the Wise based on the teachings of her
mentor Father Eli and the Drudic Craft of the Wise.
I am Not a member of The Drudic Craft of the Wise.
I have taken the opportunity of studying with Misty-Eve
& have gleaned much insight from those studies.
I believe that the best of teachers must be the best of students.

May I have the Grace to remain a student first,
on My path to enlightenment

These are my Graces.
3 very different women,
with differing spiritual paths.
Each giving something of themselves
to the pagan community.

My hope is in the coming months
the pagan community finds the Grace
to support one another .
Be it Wiccan, Druid, Palo, Witchcraft,
wherever the path leads;
May it lead to Grace

New Moon in Capricorn

The new moon arrives Wednesday in Capricorn.
Always practical, often prudent, sometimes somber
Capricorn brings a message.
Amidst the activities of the holiday season,
Cappy prompts us "Take Care of Business".
Set your goals for the year ahead.
Cappy also reminds us of the materialistic side
that sometimes dwells within.
Capricorn reminds us revel in the
true
meaning of the season.

Balsamic Moon - Look Within

The Dark Moon.
A time to cleanse. Purify. Release.
She brings to us the opportunity to step back,
step aside and reflect.
Be still and listen.
Balsamic Moon - Cleansing

The arrival of the balsamic moon is perfectly timed.
As the holidays approach nerves seem frazzled,
stress begins to peak and we sometimes forget the
truths of this season.
We need to step back. Take a moment to BE.
We need to wash away negativity and emerge
as a babe from it's mothers womb.
We need to bathe in the wisdom and guidance
of the Goddess (Great Mother)

I use baths for many reasons. There are baths
for bringing. Baths for cleansing. Baths just for
relaxing. This is one of my favorites. I take this
bath before reading for clients, after readings
and during the Dark Moon.
Water and Salt create powerful magick.

Sea Salt Bath
Just before you go to bed pour 1 pound sea salt into the tub
and fill with water. Add 10 drops of Lavender essential oil
- if you have fresh lavender drop a bit in.
Soak. Relax. Most of all, enjoy. Don't shower off afterwards.

Head off to bed. Tomorrow you'll awaken refreshed, energized, anew...

What makes a witch?

Many years ago looking at my reflection

in the mirror, I made the statement
"I am a witch". At that moment
I felt an incredible energy and a joy in the knowing.

So what makes a witch?
A witch lives in harmony with nature
A witch has a reverence for the Divine in all living things
A witch knows the smallest of rocks is living
A witch keeps their word
For a witch knows words are power

You can not take a class and become a witch.
You can take a class and learn the ways of witchcraft
You can take a class and learn how to dress a candle
or the many names and aspects of the Goddess
You can learn of herbs, of cycles of the moon.
You can learn many things from a good course but
You will not "become" a witch.
There are no certificates pronouncing one a witch.
There is no authority authenticating one witch over another.

A witch is a state of BEING

Full Moon & The Alchemy of Water

Last Nights Full Moon brought a flurry of activity.
There were potions to be made, candles to be dressed,
crystals to bathe in the moonlight.

I settle down and prepare my ritual bath.
Jasmine & Lavender fill the air. Lady Moon lights up
the tub. I soak. Then I notice the connecting thread
to the evenings activities.

Water. It is there in my brew making. Water fills
my scrying bowl. It cleanses, purifies. It soothes.
Water. From the womb of the Goddess, protecting
and nourishing us. An Element of great magick.
It changes form. It adapts. Water transforms. A lesson
from The Lady.

Magick is an act of transformation. We use our magick
to change situations, circumstances. We use our magick
to help adapt. Perhaps the Greatest Magick we can ever
learn is the Magick of transforming one's self.

Hecate

(It is) She who first came to me
She who whispers her secrets to me
She who teaches me the secrets (Magick) of her herbs
She who sings to me at night
I awaken with the knowledge of a spell
It is She I offer my devotion to
And it is Her words and guidance I offer
To those who shall listen

Hecate Day of the Crossroads / November 30th

Hecate Day of the Crossroads/November 30th

Hecate
Triple Goddess, Great mother, Moon Goddess,
Dark goddess, Queen of the witches.
Day of the crossroads is a time to honor her.
Leave an offering at the crossroads for Hecate.
Give thanks to the Great Mother.

Offering to Hecate

After Sunset on Nov 30th, I go to a crossroads
and leave an offering. My offering consists of
Incense, preferably Lavender. A small dish of
Herbs including Mugwort & Patchouli.

A plate of the following:

1 Apple sliced in half horizontally (pentacle showing)
Drizzle the following over the Apple -
Cinnamon
Honey
Raisins
Saffron

A small cup of Wine or red Grape Juice

Yes, it is similar to the ingredients of Kyphi.
For me Hecate and Isis are one and the same,
so what could be more fitting?
Give Thanks, say your prayer or petition and walk away
WITHOUT looking back.

One Witch's Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, although not a Pagan Holiday or festival,
is for me a most magickal holiday. A time to Thank Our Lady
for being part of my life, for gifts she has given & the
compassion she shows us. A time to share her bounty,
which leads me to Kitchen Witchery.

Cooking up a special meal for family & friends
is magick at it's best. Love, happiness even healing can be conjured up.
A witches energy & love can add some mighty powerful
Intention to the spell of her food.
So this Thanksgiving I will offer an Altar to honor the Goddess,
a meal to share her bounty with family & friends,
a special feast for My Lady's creatures who live in our woods, and this prayer:

Iroquois Prayer
We return thanks to our mother, the earth, which sustains us.
We return thanks to the rivers and streams,
which supply us with water.
We return thanks to all herbs,
which furnish medicines for the cure of our diseases.
We return thanks to the moon and stars,
which have given to us their light when the sun was gone.
We return thanks to the sun,
that has looked upon the earth with a beneficent eye.
Lastly, we return thanks to the Great Spirit,
in Whom is embodied all goodness,
and Who directs all things for the good of Her children.

New Moon - Beginnings

Not yet visible, Lady Moon emerges. She brings the magick of beginnings. A time of birth. We plant our seeds of magick and tend our Lady's garden.

Light a white candle to honor the maiden.
Tinctures

The New Moon is a time for attraction magick;
new job, new love, new opportunities & healing.
A time when healing properties of plants are most potent.
Perfect for preparing herbal potions!
This is my Love & Healing Tincture:

Lavender & Rose Hips

1/2 oz Rose Hips (dried)
1/2 oz Lavender (dried)
4 - 5 oz 100 Proof Alcohol (Vodka or Rum)
Do not use rubbing alcohol!

Place herbs in glass jar. Cover with alcohol.
Seal & place in dark area. Shake daily for
next 2 weeks. At the Full moon, pour tincture
through cheesecloth or strainer into a dark jar
or bottle. Press remaining herbs to extract any liquid.

*Dried herbs work better than fresh due to the water content
of fresh herbs

Love & Healing tincture can be taken orally (add 3-4 drops
to 1/4 cup of water) to allieviate cold & flu symptoms,
insomnia, fatigue and as a treatment for diarrhea.

Annoint your body, candles, mojo bags for a magickal
boost.

Waning Moon - Releasing

Time to be rid of! If it's not working, let it go.
Sometimes we have a habit or thought pattern
we need to change. Other times there are people
or things that just have to go...
Recently I had "something" that had to go. A real
eyesore that a neighbor placed smack up against
our fence. We asked politely but the offending
item stayed put... So, with harm to none, by the light
of the Waning moon I sprinkled a bit of this.
Next day the object of our "offense"collapsed.
A little goes a LONG way!

4 Thieves Vinegar

4 thieves Vinegar traditionally consists of 4
ingredients steeped in vinegar. It is great for
protection, banishing and it boosts the immune
system - perfect for cold & flu season
This is my version.

1 Bottle cider vinegar
4 cloves of garlic peeled
4 Sprigs Rosemary
4 Sprigs Thyme
Black pepper, Cayenne pepper, 1 jalapeno pepper, red pepper flakes

Simmer vinegar & garlic in pot or cauldron :)
Remove from heat. place remaining ingredients in jar
When vinegar has cooled slightly pour over ingredients
The longer it steeps, the more potent it is!
I am a Witch. A simple statement, yet one
yielding so much power.
Words have Power. Words are Power.

Wyrd is that power. Wyrd is to become.
Wyrd creates, transforms... I am a
Wyrd Witch, Seer, Daughter of the Goddess
